Well they use to have great portion sizes over a year ago, but they changed there menu. Now they measure everything, and yet raised prices up. On top of that the food taste is bad. Small portions, nasty tasting food, and last crappy music. Same old bands that come around Bastrop for the last few years. They need to get a good variety of music, serve bigger portions for the price they charge. I never eat there anymore and dont plan on ever eating there. One of the worse restaurants in Bastrop.

I had the honor to judge several category of soups at the annual Bastrop Empty Bowls Project and I have to say, there were some good ones. Big Mouth Restaurant in Bastrop Texas submitted several entries that were just AWESOME. Their ?Summer Chill Melon? soup, a cold soup served in a cantaloupe shell that just made your taste buds scream for more, was the big winner. Their other two entries finished close behind and also took prizes. Their ?Creamy Prime Rib Mushroom? soup served in a sourdough bread bowl was thick and hearty for you soup lovers who like soup that sticks to your spoon and definitely deserved a second bowl (even a third). Their entry in the tortilla soup category was ?Green Chile Chicken? soup that was just great. I would highly recommend, as would my fellow judges, that these soups all deserved refills and had what my father would say, "Comeback Taste."

My wife and I have been eating at Big Mouth Southwestern Grill at least twice a week since they opened a little over a year ago. We love everything about this restaurant and it is like nothing else we have here in Bastrop. They are in an old historic building with an old bar probably built in the 1800's. What I really like is how they have the old style but brought in some really cool modern items like light fixtures and tables. The food is every bit as impressive as the space itself. They use hatch green chilies in most of their dishes and I love the Loko Yolko Enchilada plate. Their prime rib is hands down the best I have ever had. I have had friends and family visit and try the prime rib and they also agree it is the best they've ever had. There is a big grooup of us that always hang out for football games which is really great because they have a huge screen, probably about 8 or 10 foot. Some Saturdays we'll hang out all day watching football and eating their green chili chicken wings and drinking Shiner beer. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any one passing through or a local that for some reason is unaware we have a really cool downtown area. They have a great staff, we are always happy with our service, and of all the items we have tried on the menu have not been disapointed yet. We love Big Mouth and know you will too! Check out their website www.bigmouthsouthwesterngrill Thanks for coming to Bastrop Big Mouth, now we don't have to drive to Austin every night!

The experience at Big Mouth was great. Nestled on Main Street in downtown Bastrop, right off of freeway. The food is exceptional, the Salmon is to die for...highly recommended.
